Rattlers Secure Regular-Season Sweep over Grambling State

GRAMBLING, La. --The Florida A&M men's basketball team out-rebounded the Grambling Tigers 40-32 on the way to a 66-59 victory on the road Saturday.

The Rattlers (13-15, 10-7) had three players score in double figures, led by Jaquan Sanders, who had 16 points and two steals. Miles Ndalama tacked on 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks and Antonio Baker chipped in as well with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Ndalama pulled down four offensive rebounds to pace the Florida A&M offense which grabbed 12 boards and turned them into 12 second chance points.

The Florida A&M defense caused its share of mistakes in Saturday's game, forcing 13 Grambling turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 10 points on the other end of the floor. Tyler Shirley's two steals led the way individually for the Rattlers.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 15-14 advantage, Florida A&M went on an 8-0 run with 8:07 left in the first half to increase its lead to 23-14. The Rattlers then added four points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 30-17 advantage. Florida A&M did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 16 of its 30 points close to the basket.

Florida A&M kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Sanders' three, to grow the lead to 61-48 with 2:13 to go in the contest. The Tigers narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Rattlers still cruised the rest of the way for the 66-59 win. Florida A&M took care of business in the paint, recording 28 of its 36 points in the lane.
