TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --The Florida A&M Rattlers earned a win in walk-off fashion, responding to score one in the bottom of the seventh after Eastern Illinois tied it up in the top half, sealing the victory on Justin Lopez's solo home to knock off the Panthers 7-6 Saturday.
Cody Williams (1-0) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Florida A&M (1-1). The right-hander went 0.2 innings, giving up one run on one hit, allowing no walks and striking out two. Jackson McKenzie also made an impact on the mound for the Rattlers, throwing three innings, giving up one run on two hits, with no walks and five strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the second inning. Caden Kresak drove in two runs for Florida A&M with a single, that scored Ethan Miller and Will Brown.
The Panthers then scored two runs to retake their advantage heading into the third inning, when the Rattlers responded by getting back on the scoreboard themselves. which brought the Rattlers lead to 5-4.
Florida A&M kept Eastern Illinois scoreless before building their lead to 6-4 in the sixth inning.
Eastern Illinois then rallied to tie the ballgame at 6-6 before Florida A&M walked it off in the bottom of the seventh on Lopez's one-out solo home run.
