TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --The Florida A&M Rattlers got a boost from junior Ethan Miller, who collected three hits in a 4-2 loss to the Mercer Bears Wednesday.
Senior Trenten Langley (0-1) came out of the bullpen for Florida A&M and took the loss. Junior Trevor Hanselman was a bright spot for the Rattlers, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing two shutout innings, allowing no hits, with one walk and three strikeouts.
In addition to his three hits, Miller had a home run and an RBI to lead the Rattlers. Freshman Broedy Poppell put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 2-for-5 with a home run and an RBI. Freshman Jay Campbell also chipped in for Florida A&M, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding two walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rattlers put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Miller put Florida A&M on the board with a one-out solo home run off sophomore Gaspard.
The Bears then rallied to score three runs and take a 3-1 lead before the Rattlers got back on the board in the seventh. Florida A&M picked up a run on Poppell's two-out solo home run off of freshman Kalkbrenner, which brought the score to 3-2 in favor of the Bears. The Rattlers were unable to get any closer, as Mercer added one run to their tally on the way to a 4-2 final.
