Florida A&M rallies for 4-3 walk-off victory over Bethune-Cookman

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --The Florida A&M RattlersĀ rallied to score two in the seventh inning and walked it off on a two-run single off the bat of junior Keeleigh Spooner to pick up the 4-3 victory over the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats Sunday.

Sophomore Zoryana Hughes (10-6) got the win out of the bullpen for Florida A&M (21-17, 17-4). The left-hander went 5.2 innings, giving up one run on four hits.

At the plate, the RattlersĀ were paced by Spooner, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double and two RBI. Freshman Ciara Maple furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 3-for-4. Junior Amari Brown also chipped in for Florida A&M, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The RattlersĀ were trailing 2-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Florida A&M got an RBI single from Brown, scoring Hughes from second base.

The Wildcats expanded their lead to 3-1 before the RattlersĀ offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fifth. Senior Kiauna Watson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M, which tightened the Wildcats lead to 3-2.

Florida A&M kept its deficit in check, holding Bethune-Cookman scoreless before scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh to claim victory, walking it off
