Commitment & Expectations

Selected team members will cheer at all home football and basketball games, designated away games, championships, tournaments, participate in appearances, community service, and special events. An official cheer calendar will be provided at the first in-person practice.

Mandatory Games: All home and away football/basketball games. (Check famuathletics.com for the 2025-2026 schedule.)

Availability Requirement: If you cannot commit to attending all mandatory games, DO NOT TRY OUT. Any cheerleader who misses the required games or events could be suspended and/or dismissed from the team.

Cheer Fee

Total Cost: $800

• $400 due May 15th
• $400 due August 1st

Skill Requirements

Tumbling:

• Standing: Standing tuck, Toe Touch Tuck, Cartwheel Tuck (required)
• Running: Round-off back handspring series to tuck (required); layouts and above (recommended)

Stunting:

• Flyers: Elite level 4 skills or higher Include, but not limited to; Switch-ups, full-ups, low to high, high to high, Inversions, Baskets: kick full or higher, and advanced body positions.
• Bases/Back spots: Strong bases that can perform in Switch-ups, full-ups, low to high, high to high, Inversions, Baskets: kick full or higher, and advanced body positions.

Tryout Process

FAMU Cheer tryouts consist of two rounds:

• 1?? Video Submission (Round 1) Due: Friday, March 7, 2025
• • Introduction: Name, classification, position you are trying out for. Please select your strongest position.
  • Submit a continuous video showcasing Stunting (4 group stunt: top girl, two bases and back spot), Tumbling (no spotters allowed) and Jumping.

Advancement to Round 2 depends on performance.

2?? In-Person Evaluation (Round 2)

• Invitation-only evaluation of jumps, tumbling, stunting, and cheer/dance material.
• Tryout dates: April 18-19, 2025

Registration & Submission Instructions

Tryout Fee: $55 (Register via Eventbrite – No refunds)

After registering on Eventbrite:

1. Email confirmation to famu.cheerleading@gmail.com
2. Subject line: First Name Last Name - FC VIDEOINFO (e.g., Jane Doe - FC VIDEOINFO)
3. Expect a follow-up email within two business days with video submission details.
