Tryout Process
Florida A&M University Cheer program will conduct a 2-round tryout process.
 
Round 1: Video Tryout - All participants must submit a non-stop video recording displaying only jumps and tumbling skills. Advancement to the next round is contingent upon the performance of the required material. After all videos are reviewed, each participant will receive an email informing them of advancement or non-advancement to the second round.
 
Round 2: MANDATORY in-person evaluation. Participants must receive an invitation to attend this in-person evaluation! During this time, ALL SKILLS, including jumps, tumbling, stunting, and cheer/dance material will be evaluated.

Round 2 Mandatory In-Person Tryout - April 14 -15, 2023
 
Individuals that make the team will cheer at all home football and basketball games and designated away games. Members of the team will be utilized for appearances, community service activities, and special events.

**If you will NOT be available for ALL the mandatory dates above, we ask that you DO NOT try out for FAMU CHEER. Any cheerleader who makes the team and is unavailable during the mandatory dates WILL BE DISMISSED FROM THE TEAM. 
 
Cheer Fee 
Total Cost $ 1100
First payment of $550 DUE May 01 
Second/final payment of $ 550 DUE August 01 
 
Requirements 
STANDING TUMBLING REQUIREMENT – Standing tuck
RUNNING TUMBLING REQUIREMENT – Round off backhand Tuck & Layouts (Highly Recommended)
STUNTING– FLYERS – Switch Up, Full Up, Advanced body positions, 
STUNTING – BASES/BACKSPOTS – Experience basing libs, switch-ups, full ups
 
Tryout/Registration Fee - $50 (must register online on Eventbrite) NO REFUNDS
**After you have registered using Eventbrite, send email confirmation to famu.cheerleading@gmail.com. In the subject area, please list your first name and last name FC VIDEOINFO. (EX. Jane Doe FC VIDEOINFO). After sending email confirmation, you will receive a separate email no later than two business days, including further video submission instructions.
