Florida A&M falls 92-72 to Kennesaw State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --The Florida A&M men's basketball team got a 34-point performance from the bench, but fell 92-72 to the Kennesaw State Owls at home Saturday.

The Rattlers (0-2) had three players score in double figures, led by Devere Palmer, who had 16 points and six rebounds. Tyler Shirley tacked on 14 points and Baker Antonio chipped in as well with 10 points and two steals off of the bench.

Led by Anquan Boldin Jr.'s four offensive rebounds, Florida A&M did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 13 boards that resulted in 10 second chance points.

Florida A&M forced 14 Kennesaw State turnovers while committing 12 themselves in Saturday's game. The Rattlers turned those takeaways into 18 points on the other end of the floor. Micah Octave led the way individually with two steals.

How It Happened

Florida A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 48-34 heading into halftime.

Kennesaw State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 51-36 advantage before Florida A&M went on a 6-0 run to shrink the deficit to 51-42 with 14:46 to go in the contest. Kennesaw State responded and outscored the Rattlers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 92-72. Florida A&M got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 20 of its 38 total points.
