TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --The Florida A&M volleyball team fired back after losing the first set to secure a 3-1 victory (12-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-11) against the Alabama State Lady Hornets Friday at home at Lawson Multipurpose Center and Teaching Gymnasium.
The victory moved the Rattlers record to 8-15 overall and 6-6 in SWAC action.
The Rattlers were led by a double-double from Ladonna Trantham, who registered 10 kills and 16 digs on the day. Sydney Whitfield also added 20 kills to help the offense.Dylan Hoskins also pitched in with eight in the contest. On the defensive end, Whitfield chipped in for with nine digs to go with two blocks from Farah Farooq.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Rattlerettes found themselves in an early hole, losing a tough first set 25-12. Florida A&M trailed by as many as 13 points as Alabama State grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 in a set that was tied up two times before the Lady Hornets took control.
SET 2 | Florida A&M evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-18 second-set win. The Rattlers led from the opening point on in the set to secure the victory. Florida A&M opened up as much as an eight point lead at 20-12 before closing out the set, totaling 16 kills along the way. The Rattlers hit .361 over the course of the set. The Florida A&M offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Florida A&M built on that second-set success with a victory in set number three to open up a lead at two sets to one. The Rattlers won the set 25-19 propelled by a strong showing on the attacking end. Florida A&M put together a .321 attack percentage with 13 kills in the set win. The Rattlers ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the stanza.
SET 4 | Florida A&M earned a match win with a 25-11 fourth-set victory, winning their third straight set. The Rattlers grabbed control of the set at 3-2 and never looked back. Florida A&M ended the stanza on a high note by opening up its biggest lead, 14 points, to close out the set. Florida A&M also supplemented their offense with six aces in the set.
