Rattlers earn 3-0 sweep over Texas Southern

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Florida A&M volleyball team delivered a dominant performance to close out Homecoming weekend, sweeping Texas Southern 3-0 inside the energetic Lawson Multipurpose Center and Teaching Gymnasium. The Rattlers controlled every set with poise and power, putting on a statement win in front of the home crowd — the perfect way to cap off an unforgettable Homecoming celebration. 
Ladonna Trantham powered the Rattlers' offense with a team-high 16 kills, hitting .268 on the day to set the tone at the net. On the defensive side, Victoria Santana anchored the back row with 18 digs, while Tamia Coleman dominated the net with six key blocks, helping Florida A&M control the match from start to finish.

  • Ladonna Trantham had a match-high 16 kills for Florida A&M. 
  • Florida A&M got a match-high 18 digs from Victoria Santana. 
  • Florida A&M attackers were helped by a match-high 28 assists from Makenzie Taylor. 

How It Happened 

SET 1 | Strong serving helped the Rattlers earn a set-one victory 25-19. Florida A&M totaled five aces in the set victory. The Rattlers ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out. 
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Florida A&M put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-23 victory in set number two. The Rattlers took the lead for good at 23-22 in a set that had just one lead change before the Rattlers took over in the second half.  
SET 3 | Florida A&M took the third set to finish off the match. The Rattlers won the third set 25-20. Florida A&M took the lead for good at 11-10 in a set that showcased four lead changes before the Rattlers took over the lead. Florida A&M's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Texas Southern attacks.
