Another Busy Week Ahead for FAMU Volleyball

FAMU has a Louisiana stretch coming up.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Florida A&M volleyball team has a road trip to Louisiana coming up, where it will compete in the Cowgirl Invitational hosted by McNeese State and the New Orleans Invitational hosted by NO.

The Last Outing
The Rattlers posted a perfect 4-0 week with home victories over UNF (3-2), Southern (3-0), New Orleans (3-0), and Jacksonville (3-1). 
  • Brooke Lynn Watts recorded a team-high 60 points behind 50 kills, nine service aces, and two assisted blocks
  • Brookelynn Thomas added a team-high 53 kills to go alongside 10 blocks (nine assisted) and 11 digs 
  • Alexandra Koleva contributed 95 assists, highlighted by 29 in the win against UNF (the most recorded in a five-set match in the SWAC this season) 
  • Jada Rhodes finished the week with a team-high 37 digs

FAMU leads the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) in quite a few statistical categories including:  
  • Hitting Percentage (.271) / First
  • Points Per Set (16.68) / First
  • Assists Per Set (11.56) / First
  • Kills Per Set (12.56) / First
  • Service Aces (51) / First
  • Service Aces Per Set (2.04) / First 
  • Kills (314) / Second
  • Points (417) / Second
  • Assists (289) / Second
  • Total Blocks (52.0) / Third
The Rattlers also rank 20th in the nation in aces. Individually, Brooke Lynn Watts is managing a team-high 14 to rank 21st in Division I volleyball.

A Year Ago
  • Florida A&M reached the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship match for the third consecutive season but fell short of a three-peat, losing 3-0 to Jackson State.
  • The Rattlers finished the season with an 18-14 overall record and a 12-4 mark in SWAC play. Before facing JSU in the title match, they were riding an eight-match winning streak.
  • Brooke Hudson was honored as the SWAC Libero of the Year and earned First Team All-SWAC honors alongside Brooke Lynn Watts and Camila De La RosaIsis Williams and Iyonnie Sanford were named to the Second Team All-SWAC.
