GULFPORT, Miss. --The Florida A&M Rattlers needed eight innings to finish the job, but secured the 2-1 extra-innings win, walking it off on a single off the bat of junior Kiauna Watson to claim victory over the UAPB Lady Lions Tuesday.
Freshman Zoryana Hughes (14-3) entered in the circle in the second inning and picked up the win for Florida A&M (24-18). The right-hander went seven shutout innings while giving up two hits, allowing no walks and striking out six.
In the batter's box, the Rattlers were led by senior Nyah Morgan, who went 1-for-2 on the day with a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rattlers were trailing 1-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Florida A&M got an RBI single from Morgan, scoring Watson from second base.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the eighth, when Florida A&M walked it off on a run-scoring single off the bat of Watson.
