Florida A&M falls to Grambling 14-11 in SWAC Tournament

ATLANTA, Ga. –– The Florida A&M Rattlers took an 11-9 lead into the eighth inning, but could not hang on and fell 14-11 to the Grambling Tigers Saturday.

Junior Cody Williams (3-2) took the loss on the mound for Florida A&M (29-27).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 3-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the first inning. Florida A&M scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of senior Adam Haidermota.

The Tigers broke the tie and re-took the lead heading into the third inning, when the Rattlers got back on the scoreboard. Florida A&M scored twice on senior Joseph Pierini's two-run homer, which brought the score to 8-5 in favor of the Tigers.

Florida A&M kept the Tigers off the board before rallying to tie it up at eight in the fourth.

The Tigers broke up the tie and grabbed the lead heading into the seventh inning, when Florida A&M got back on the board. bringing the Florida A&M advantage to 11-9. The Rattlers were unable to hold the lead, as Grambling scored five times over the remaining two innings to grab the 14-11 win.
