GULFPORT, Miss. -- The Florida A&M Rattlers got three hits from junior Brianna Duggins in a 3-1 loss to the Jackson State Tigers Friday.
Junior Samantha Smith (10-10) took the loss in the circle for Florida A&M (26-20). The right-hander went 5.2 innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on six hits, allowing two walks and striking out three.
Duggins' three-hit day led the Rattlers offensively. Senior Mia Blasingane furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 2-for-3. Freshman Delacia DeLeslin also helped out for Florida A&M, putting together two hits in two trips to the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Sophomore Neriah Lee came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M and get them on the board. Jackson State then scored two times over the remaining four innings to break the tie and grab the 3-1 win.
