BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –– Florida A&M softball wraps up the regular season by sweeping the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Hitter and Pitcher of the Week awards.
Samantha Smith was an RBI machine last week, going 4-8 from the plate with eight RBIs. Smith also hit her first career grand slam in the 9-1 win versus Alabama A&M. Smith reached home three times. Smith had a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .500 batting average. Smith also picked up a win on the mound this weekend.
Lauryn Peppers dominated on the mound, throwing a no-no versus Mississippi Valley. Pepper struck out ten batters in five innings. Peppers became the first Rattler to throw a no-hitter in ten years and is the second pitcher in the SWAC to throw one versus a Division I school this season.
