Rattlers travel to Huntsville for SWAC-opener

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –– Florida A&M softball heads north to Huntsville to begin Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play after going 2-1 in the last three games this week with wins over Jacksonville and Mercer.

The Rattlers enter the weekend after having the SWAC Hitter of the Week in Nyomi Jones and the Co-Pitcher of the Week in Zoryana Hughes. Hughes is also coming off a major performance versus Mercer, going 6.2 innings and throwing ten strikeouts in the 5-2 win.

The Rattlers also head into the weekend with one of the top hitters in the SWAC in Jones, who is third in hits with 20. The Rattlers also have one of the top pitchers in the SWAC in Hughes, who is 14th in ERA with a 3.82.

The Rattlers will face one of the SWAC's top pitchers in former Rattler Cris'deona Beasley, who has a 1.81 ERA with a 3-2 record. Alabama A&M's top hitters are Serena Herbranson (10 hits) and Tori Green (nine hits).
