TALLAHASSEE, FL --The Florida A&M Rattlers got a strong performance out of senior Ty Jackson, who recorded two extra base hits in a 8-4 loss to the Indiana State Sycamores Friday.
Senior Caleb Granger (2-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Florida A&M (5-9, ).
Jackson's two extra base hits were the highlight of a 2-for-4 day, and included a triple, a home run and three RBI. Senior Sebastian Greico put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 1-for-4 with a triple. Freshman Joseph Pierini also helped out for the Rattlers, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 4-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Florida A&M got an RBI single from Pierini, scoring Greico from third base.
The Rattlers deficit grew to 6-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the eighth inning. Florida A&M scored three runs, all of them coming on a three-run homer off the bat of Jackson, scoring senior Jalen Niles and freshman Ben Kim, which brought the score to 6-4 in favor of the Sycamores. The Rattlers were unable to get any closer, as Indiana State added two runs to their tally on the way to an 8-4 final.
