Nyomi Jones and Zoryana Hughes earned SWAC honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –– Florida A&M softball earned more Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) honors this season as Nyomi Jones was named the Hitter of the Week and Zoryana Hughes was named the Co-Pitcher of the Week.

Jones had a dominant weekend at the plate, batting 5-8 with two runs and two RBIs in the weekend split versus Jacksonville. Jones went 4-4 with two hits, two RBIs, and an inside-the-park home run in the 5-2 win versus a Dolphins team that beat the Seminoles this weekend. The Rattlers' third game was cancelled at the top of the 2nd due to weather.

Hughes had a dominant performance in the first game versus the Dolphins. Hughes came in for relief, pitched three innings, gave up no hits, and struck out four batters, earning the save in the 5-2 win versus a Dolphins team that beat the Seminoles this weekend. In the second game, Hughes came in for relief again, pitching five innings and struck out two batters.
