Rattlers return to Veronica Wiggins Field for a weekend series versus Mississippi Valley

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– Florida A&M softball returns home after winning their last four games, including a weekend sweep at Alabama A&M to put them in first place in the East with Bethune-Cookman at 3-0.
 
The Rattlers will host the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devilettes as they look to extend their win streak to seven games and start Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play 6-0.
 
The Rattlers enter the weekend with one of the best performers in the SWAC after Samantha Smith was named the hitter and co-pitcher of the week. Smith enters the weekend first in doubles (4), slg% (1.250), tied for first in wins (2), tied for second in hits (6), and third in ERA (0.58) and SO (15) in SWAC play.
 
The Rattlers enter the weekend with the second-best batting average (.355) and runs scored (25) in conference play. They also ranked third in hits (25). Defensively, the Rattlers possess the best ERA (1.11) and have given up the least amount of runs (4). Also, the Rattlers have allowed the second-lowest hits (12) and opponent batting average (.179).
 
The Delta Devilettes enter the weekend on a six-game losing streak and were swept by Bethune-Cookman last week, being outscored 35-8. The first game is scheduled for Friday, March 15, at 6 p.m. The Rattlers will play a doubleheader on Saturday, March 16, beginning at 1 p.m.
