Rattlers tie program record in 130-58 win

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– The Florida A&M Rattlers put on an offensive clinic Friday night at Al Lawson Center, tying a program record with 130 points in a dominant 130-58 victory over Trinity College (FL), improving their record to 3-5. The 130-point outburst matched the Rattlers' historic scoring mark set back in 1989 against Delaware State.

Five Rattlers scored in double figures, led by Sterling Young's 25 points on an efficient 7-of-9 shooting, including a scorching 6-of-7 from three-point range. Kaleb Washington added 22 points, while Shaqir O'Neal contributed 20 points and six rebounds in 18 minutes of action. Jocobi Hendricks and Milton Matthews both had 11 points.

The Rattlers shot a blistering 59% from the field and knocked down 17 three-pointers at a 43.6% clip. The Rattlers dominated inside, outscoring Trinity 64-14 in the paint and winning the rebounding battle 48-29.

The game was competitive early, with Trinity holding a brief 2-point lead at 16:38 in the first half. However, FAMU quickly took control with a 16-0 run and never looked back. The Rattlers built a 62-28 halftime advantage and continued their offensive onslaught in the second half.

The Rattlers' bench played a significant role, contributing 80 points to help FAMU reach the historic scoring mark. Jordan Chatman added 9 points and five rebounds, while Trey Lewis dished out five assists to help orchestrate the offensive explosion.

DJ Nunnery led Trinity with 18 points, but the visitors struggled against FAMU's defense, shooting just 34.5%.

The historic offensive performance gives FAMU momentum as they continue their non-conference schedule. The 130-point outburst shows the explosive potential of this Rattlers squad as they prepare for SWAC play later this season.
