Rattlers dominate Thomas (GA) 111-45 to wrap up non-conference play

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– The Florida A&M women's basketball team dominated Thomas (GA) 111-45 at the Al Lawson Center, powered by outstanding individual performances from Sabou Gueye and Sydney Hendrix.

Gueye had a stellar all-around game, recording 22 points on an incredibly efficient 11-of-12 shooting while tying for the third-most steals in a single game in FAMU history with eight takeaways. Sydney Hendrix notched her second double-double of the season, posting 17 points and 12 rebounds to help control the paint for the Rattlers.

Cheyenne McEvans contributed 14 points and seven rebounds as FAMU showcased its depth, with seven players scoring seven or more points. The Rattlers' defense was suffocating throughout, forcing 39 turnovers, which led to 55 points. The 39 forced turnovers were the most since 2002. Their dominance inside was evident, outscoring Thomas 66-18 in the paint and 52-4 in fast break points.

The Rattlers shot an impressive 50.6% from the field while holding Thomas to just 26.2%. Their largest lead reached 66 points in the third quarter as they controlled the glass with a 59-31 rebounding advantage, including 24 offensive rebounds that led to 24 second-chance points.

The win improves Florida A&M's record to 3-8. This marks the highest-scoring output of the season for FAMU, who will look to build on this momentum as they open up SWAC play versus Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
