ATLANTA, GA --The Florida A&M women's basketball team fell short in a 98-56 loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on the road Sunday.

The Rattlers (0-8) had three players score in double figures, led by D'Mya Griffin, who had 15 points and three steals. Cheyenne McEvans tacked on 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals and Sydney Hendrix helped out with 12 points.

Florida A&M forced 15 Georgia Tech turnovers. The Rattlers turned those takeaways into 18 points on the offensive end of the floor. Griffin's three steals led the way for Florida A&M.

How It Happened

Florida A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 31-16 at the end of the first quarter.

The Rattlers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 48-23 halftime deficit.

Georgia Tech continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 71-34 advantage before Florida A&M went on an 8-0 run to trim its deficit to 71-42 with 1:41 to go in the third. Georgia Tech countered and stretched its lead to 75-44 heading into the fourth. Florida A&M played well near the basket, scoring 12 of its 21 points in the paint.

Georgia Tech kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing an 80-46 advantage before Florida A&M went on an 8-0 run, finished off by Griffin's layup, to shrink the deficit to 80-54 with 6:13 to go in the contest. Georgia Tech responded and outscored the Rattlers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 98-56. Florida A&M took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring six of its 12 points in the paint.
