Rattlers to play Alabama A&M on Senior Day

11/28/2024 6:26:00 PM

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– The Florida A&M Rattlers (6-5, 4-3 SWAC) will host the Alabama A&M Bulldogs (6-5, 4-3 SWAC) on Senior Day this Friday at 4 p.m. Eastern.

The Rattlers enter the contest with momentum after a thrilling 41-38 victory over Bethune-Cookman last week. FAMU's passing attack has been a strength all season, led by quarterback Daniel Richardson, who ranks among the nation's leaders with 2,469 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and a stellar 69.7% completion percentage. His favorite target has been dynamic receiver Jamari Gassett, who has 51 catches for 719 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Bulldogs bring a potent offense of their own, averaging 31.6 points and 454.4 yards per game. They feature a balanced attack behind running back Donovan Eaglin (897 rushing yards, 9 TDs) and receiver Keenan Hambrick (722 receiving yards, 5 TDs).

This game could come down to defensive play, where FAMU has excelled on third downs, holding opponents to a 36.2% conversion rate. The Rattlers must contain Alabama A&M's ground game, which averages 193.9 yards per contest.

For Florida A&M's seniors, this represents their final home game at Bragg Memorial Stadium. The Rattlers will honor a senior class that has been instrumental in the program's recent success.

The matchup features two programs trending upward, with both teams winning their previous games and sporting identical overall and conference records. With so much offensive firepower, this senior day showdown could turn into a high-scoring affair.

Key Matchup to Watch: FAMU's passing attack vs. Alabama A&M's secondary. The Bulldogs have allowed 221.6 passing yards per game, which could create opportunities for Richardson and the Rattlers' receivers to make big plays.
