ORLANDO, FL --The Florida A&M women's basketball team fell 80-55 to the UCF Knights on the road Sunday.
The Rattlers (0-6) had two players score in double figures, led by Sydney Hendrix, who had 12 points and nine rebounds. Cheyenne McEvans tacked on 11 points and two steals and Jaliya Sharp added six points and two blocks.
Florida A&M did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 14 boards that resulted in seven second chance points.
Florida A&M forced 17 UCF turnovers. The Rattlers turned those takeaways into 11 points on the offensive end of the floor. McEvans' two steals led the way for Florida A&M.
How It Happened
Florida A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 21-10 at the end of the first quarter.
The Rattlers fought back in the second period, narrowing the deficit to 34-25 by the time halftime rolled around.
Florida A&M's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Rattlers faced a 57-36 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Florida A&M knocked down two three-pointers in the quarter to score six of its 11 total points.
Florida A&M could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 80-55. Florida A&M took advantage of six UCF turnovers in the quarter, scoring seven points off of those takeaways.
