11/21/2024 9:00:00 PM

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– The Florida A&M Rattlers men's basketball team (0-4) will look to secure their first win of the season when they host Trinity Baptist College on Friday, November 22 at 5 p.m. in their 2024-25 home opener at the Al Lawson Center.

After a challenging four-game road stretch against TCU, SMU, Maryland, and Florida, the Rattlers return home eager to right the ship against Trinity Baptist. FAMU has faced some early offensive struggles, averaging 61.3 points per game while allowing 93.8 points to opponents.

Sterling Young has emerged as the Rattlers' leading scorer, averaging 12.0 points per game while shooting 38.1% from the field. The junior guard will look to continue his strong start against Trinity Baptist's defense. Milton Matthews has been active from beyond the arc, attempting a team-high 32 three-pointers through four games, converting at a 25% clip.

Trinity Baptist brings a trio of double-digit scorers led by Xavier Rose (14.0 PPG), Diego Fernandez (12.7 PPG), and Brandon Hill (12.3 PPG). The Rattlers' defense will need to contain this balanced scoring attack.

The Rattlers have shown some bright spots despite their early season struggles. The team's bench has been productive, ranking 70th nationally with 31.25 points per game from their reserves.

Keys to victory for FAMU will include:
- Improved shooting efficiency (currently shooting 35.7% from the field)
- Better ball security (averaging 16.5 turnovers per game)
- Controlling the defensive glass (currently being outrebounded by 8.8 boards per game)
