Rattlers Will Close Out Regular Season at Home

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Florida A&M volleyball team will conclude its regular season inside the Al Lawson Center this weekend, where it will take on Jackson State and Mississippi Valley State with the Southwestern Athletic Conference regular season championship on the line. 
 
Friday, Nov. 15
vs. Jackson State | 6 p.m. 
 
Sunday, Nov. 17
vs. Mississippi Valley State | 1 p.m. 
 
The Rattlers will celebrate its senior class ahead of Sunday's match. Join the team in honoring: Bryshanna Brown, Autumn Hamilton, London Hatch, Alexandra Koleva, Jada Rhodes, Brookelynn Thomas, Kalia Todd, Brooke Lynn Watts and Isis Williams
 
Quick Hits
  • The Rattlers, currently 22-6, have secured their third 20-win season under head coach Gokhan Yilmaz; the team finished 25-7 in 2021 and 21-13 in 2022. 
  • With a conference record of 14-0, FAMU sits atop the SWAC standings as the only undefeated team.
  • FAMU is one of nine teams in the nation currently unbeaten in conference play.
  • The Rattlers are also unbeaten at home this season (11-0).
  • They've recorded 16 straight-set wins this year, including 11 against SWAC opponents. 
  • Gokhan Yilmaz recorded his 100th victory as head coach at Florida A&M in the 3-0 win at Alcorn. Over his seven-year coaching career, Yilmaz holds an overall record of 124-94, with a 107-74 record at FAMU.
SWAC Standings
Heading into the final week of the regular season, Florida A&M (14-0 SWAC) leads the conference standings. Jackson State (12-2), Bethune-Cookman (11-3), Prairie View A&M (11-3), and Southern (8-6) complete the top five. 
 
The Rattlers can secure the regular season title with a victory over either Jackson State or Mississippi Valley State.
 
The SWAC Volleyball Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 22-24 and will be hosted by Grambling State. 

(Countdown to) Career Milestones
  • Isis Williams has recorded 268 career blocks in four seasons with FAMU, and ranks 10th all-time in the category. She is the first Rattler to crack the 'Top 10' since 1999. Voncille Mills (1986-99) currently sits ninth all-time with 273 blocks. 
  • Brooke Lynn Watts has amassed 1,006 kills in three seasons at FAMU and currently ranks eighth all-time on the Rattlers' career list. Brandi Charleston (1993-96) ranks seventh all-time with 1,026. 
  • Chasing 1K: Brookelynn Thomas has accumulated 980 career kills over her five-year career.
