FAMU, UNF Meet for the Second Time this Season

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Florida A&M and North Florida volleyball teams will meet for the second time this season, and this time, the Rattlers will be traveling to the First Coast. 

The Wednesday (Oct. 23) match will stream live on ESPN+.

  • FAMU won the previous meeting at home, 3-2.  
  • With a conference record of 9-0, FAMU sits atop the SWAC standings as the only undefeated team.
  • FAMU is one of 21 teams in the nation currently unbeaten in conference play.
  • The Rattlers are also unbeaten at home this season (9-0).
  • They've recorded 13 straight-set wins this year and recently picked up their eighth straight in a 3-0 decision at Texas A&M.
  • FAMU is also currently working a 10-match winning streak.
  • Gokhan Yilmaz recorded his 100th victory as head coach at Florida A&M in the 3-0 win at Alcorn. Over his seven-year coaching career, Yilmaz holds an overall record of 119-93, with a 102-76 record at FAMU.
  • Alexandra Koleva is the only athlete in the SWAC with 500 assists; she currently has a league-best 503 (7.19 assists per set).
  • The Rattlers rank sixth in the nation in total aces (163) and aces per set (2.17)
The Last Outing
The Rattlers have swept eight straight conference opponents, most recently defeating Texas Southern (28-26, 25-20, 25-15).  
  • Brooke Lynn Watts recorded her sixth double-double of the season on a match-high 18 kills with 13 digs; Watts also became one of FAMU's all-time kill leaders in the match.  
  • Isis Williams added a match-high six blocks
  • Three Rattlers finished with double-digit assists: Alexandra Koleva (15), Makenzie Taylor (12) and London Hatch (11)
  • Tinons Galmes also added a match-high 14 digs 
Countdown to Career Milestones
  • Brookelynn Thomas has accumulated 953 career kills over her five-year career.
  • Brooke Lynn Watts has amassed 947 kills in three seasons at FAMU and currently ranks 10th all-time on the Rattlers' career list. Kaysoniee Watson sits ninth all-time with 951 while assistant coach Dominique Washington ranks eighth with 989. 
  • Isis Williams has recorded 253 career blocks in four seasons with the Rattlers. Tiombe Jenkins ranks 10th all-time in the category with 266 blocks.
