TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Florida A&M volleyball (14-5, 6-0 SWAC) continued its impressive and unbeaten run through the Southwestern Athletic Conference with a 3-0 victory (25-12, 25-13, 25-14) over Southern on Sunday (Oct. 13).
GAME NOTES
- With a conference record of 6-0, FAMU sits atop the SWAC standings as the only undefeated team.
- The Rattlers are also unbeaten at home this season (8-0).
- Brooke Lynn Watts tallied a match-high 12 kills against the Jaguars.
- Tinons Galmés finished with a team-high 11 digs.
- Alexandra Koleva (12) and London Hatch (10) both finished with double-digit assists.
- FAMU has recorded 10 straight-set wins this year and earned its fifth straight against Southern
- FAMU is also currently working a seven-match winning streak.
- Gokhan Yilmaz is just one win away from reaching his 100th victory as head coach at Florida A&M. Over his seven-year coaching career, Yilmaz holds an overall record of 116-93, with a 99-76 record at FAMU.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE | Southern commanded an early 3-1 advantage in the opening set, but it quickly dissolved by way of a 7-0 Rattler run. The home side reached 20 points before the Jaguars could break double digits (20-9).
SET TWO | FAMU opened the second set with back-to-back blocks by
Kalia Todd and
Brookelynn Thomas. They never relinquished their advantage and concluded the set up 12.
SET THREE | Watts recorded the first kill of the set; the play ignited a 10-3 Rattler run. They led the entire set.
The Rattlers are back in Al Lawson Center Monday evening against Alcorn State. Match time is 6 p.m.
