TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --The Florida A&M men's basketball team got a 23-point showing from the bench, but fell 76-67 to the Alcorn State Braves at home Saturday.

The Rattlers (3-14, 1-5) had two players score in double figures, led by Jalen Speer, who had 19 points and four assists. Morrell Schramm added 12 points off the bench and Jordan Chatman added nine points, six rebounds and four assists.

Florida A&M shared the ball well in Saturday's game, racking up 17 assists on 22 made field goals. Speer's four assists paced the Rattlers.

After falling behind 30-23, Florida A&M went on a 6-0 run with 4:11 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Shannon Grant, to narrow its deficit to 30-29. Alcorn State answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Rattlers down 39-32 entering halftime.

Alcorn State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 57-38 advantage before Florida A&M went on a 6-0 run to shrink the deficit to 57-44 with 10:55 to go in the contest. The Rattlers kept their comeback going, but Alcorn State managed to hold on for the 76-67 win. Florida A&M shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting eight shots from deep to score 24 of its 35 points.
