Rattlers to host Southern and Grambling State this Saturday and Monday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– The Rattlers are set to host Southern and Grambling State in their first home SWAC games of the season this weekend.

Florida A&M Rattlers
The Rattlers enter the weekend coming off a conference-opener loss at Bethune-Cookman.
 
The Rattlers enter the game with the SWAC's leading scorer (conference only) in Jalen Speer after he scored a career-high 32 points at Bethune-Cookman last Saturday. Shannon Grant is also ranked fifth after scoring 18 points in the game.
 
As a team, the Rattlers are in the top half of the SWAC (conference only) in six team categories:
Offensive Points Per Game: 86 (2nd)
Field Goal Percentage: .525 (2nd)
3-Point FG%: .444 (2nd)
3-Point FG Made Per Game: 8 (2nd)

Southern Jaguars
The Jaguars enter the game with a 2-0 record in SWAC play.
 
The Jaguars will pose a challenge for the Rattlers with the ability to force turnovers, as they are 6th in the nation in turnovers forced per game (17.87) and 7th in the nation in steals per game (10.7). The two primary players on the defensive side of the ball forcing these turnovers are Tidjiane Dioumassi and Tai'Reon Joseph. 
 
Offensively, the Jaguars top scorers are Tai'Reon Joseph (19.1 points per game) and Brandon Davis (10.5 points per game). The Jaguars also have significant production off the bench as they're ranked 9th in the nation, averaging 34.93 points per game from the bench.
 
Grambling State Tigers
The Tigers enter the weekend after splitting their opening weekend 1-1 in SWAC play. Before they play the Rattlers, the Tigers will play the Wildcats on Saturday.
 
Offensively, the Tigers' main scorers are Kintavious Dozier (12.8 points per game) and Jalen Johnson (10.8 points per game). Like the Jaguars, the Tigers excel in scoring bench points as they're ranked 96th in the nation (24.58 points per game).
