Barrera Claims Third to Pace Rattler XC in Season Opener

Sierra Barrera earned medalist honors in first collegiate meet.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | In just their first collegiate meet, Sierra Barrera raced in at third place to pace the Florida A&M women's cross-country team in its season-opener – the TCC Open hosted by Tallahassee Community College (Sept. 8). The Jacksonville native clocked in at 20:47.00 behind runners from Florida State; Niya Coleman, the other Rattler freshman, finished fifth with a time of  20:52.00.

Thirty-one participants from FAMU, FSU, TCU, Chipola College, and Edward Waters College took to Apalachee Regional Park Friday morning for the women's 5K. FAMU placed second overall in the team standings. Serenity Williams (21:28.00), Jillian Salmon (21:34.00), and Lacie Deboskie (22:54.00) rounded out the "Top 10" for the Rattlers, who raced nine.
