GULFPORT, Miss. -- Despite picking up six hits in the ballgame and out-hitting Grambling, Florida A&M was unable to push across more runs, as the Rattlers fell to the Lady Tigers 3-1 Tuesday.
Sophomore Lauryn Peppers (7-9) got the ball to start for Florida A&M (20-23) and took the loss.
Senior Melkayla Irvis led the way offensively for the Rattlers, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rattlers held the Lady Tigers scoreless through the first five innings before a controversial steal in the sixth set the Lady Tigers up to score their first run of the game and eventually add two more. Trailing 3-0, the Rattlers scored their only run in the seventh inning. Freshman Neriah Lee came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M and get them on the board. The ballgame ended with that seventh inning rally falling short.
