GAINESVILLE, FL --The Florida A&M Rattlers got three hits from junior Ty Jackson in a 17-7 loss to the No. 3 Florida Gators Tuesday.
Junior Jared Townsend (0-4) started and took the loss on the mound for Florida A&M (18-18). Junior Grant Harrison was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one.
In addition to his three hits, Jackson had a double to lead the Rattlers. Junior Sebastian Greico furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Senior Ty Hanchey also chipped in for Florida A&M, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a triple and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the second inning. Florida A&M scored two runs on solo shots from Greico and junior Adam Haidermota.
The Gators expanded their lead to 13-2 before the Rattlers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fifth. The Florida A&M offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run triple off the bat of Hanchey, which brought the score to 13-6 in favor of the Gators.
