HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --The Florida A&M Rattlers fought back from down 2-1 in the sixth inning to beat the Alabama A&M Bulldogs 6-3 Friday.
Sophomore C. Granger (5-2) got the win for Florida A&M (16-17, 10-3). The right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on seven hits, allowing no walks and striking out six.
In the batter's box, the Rattlers were paced by senior J. Bastardo, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Junior T. Jackson put together a standout performance as well, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. Senior J. Weber also contributed for Florida A&M, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding a triple and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. Florida A&M scratched across a run off junior T. Campbell when Weber tripled in Jackson.
The Rattlers kept the Bulldogs off the board before taking the lead in the seventh. Florida A&M scored three times, picking up one on an RBI base knock off the bat of Jackson, which brought the score to 4-2 in favor of the Rattlers.
Florida A&M kept Alabama A&M scoreless before building their lead to 5-2 the following inning. The Rattlers picked up a run on Bastardo's one-out solo home run off Campbell.
The Bulldogs gained ground, closing the gap to 5-3 until Florida A&M added some insurance in the ninth. Junior A.Haidermota crossed home plate with the lone run of the inning for the Rattlers, bringing the score to 6-3 in favor of Florida A&M. The score remained 6-3 for the rest of the game, as the Rattlers held on for the win.
