Florida A&M rallies for 3-2 walk-off win over Mercer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --The Florida A&M Rattlers rallied to score one in the seventh inning and walked it off on a senior Brianne Hill walk from freshman Grace Taylor that scored freshman Neriah Lee to pick up the 3-2 win over the Mercer Bears Wednesday.

Sophomore Lauryn Peppers (3-5) started in the circle and picked up the win for Florida A&M (12-14). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on four hits, allowing four walks and striking out eight.

Offensively, the Rattlers were led by senior Melkayla Irvis, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a triple, a walk and an RBI. Senior Nyah Morgan put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 1-for-2 with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Senior Jane'a Mobley also helped out for Florida A&M, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rattlers were trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Morgan put Florida A&M on the board with a one-out solo home run off senior Riley Hickok.
The Rattlers kept the deficit at 2-1 before tying the score in the fifth. Florida A&M scored a run on an RBI triple off the bat of Irvis, scoring Lee, which evened the score at 2-2.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh, when Florida A&M walked it off on a Hill walk from Taylor that scored Lee.
