Four Florida A&M players notch at least two hits in 10-4 loss to SE Louisiana

TALLAHASSEE, Fla -- Four Florida A&M players collected multiple hits, but the Rattlers fell to the SE Louisiana Lions 10-4 Tuesday.

Sophomore Lauryn Peppers (1-5) started and took the loss in the circle for Florida A&M (6-10).

Senior Jane'a Mobley led the hit barrage for the Rattlers, going 3-for-4 in the ballgame with a double and an RBI. Junior Melkayla Irvis put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a triple and a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 2-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the first inning. Senior Jania Davis came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M and get them on the board.

The Lions expanded their lead to 5-1 before the Rattlers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the third. Irvis came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M, which brought the score to 5-2 in favor of the Lions.

Florida A&M held the Lions off the scoreboard before narrowing the gap to 5-3 in the fifth. The Rattlers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Mobley.

The Lions expanded their lead to 10-3 before the Florida A&M offense got back in action, biting into that lead in the seventh. Mobley crossed home plate with the lone run of the inning for the Rattlers, tightening the SE Louisiana lead to 10-4. The Rattlerettes were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
