AUBURN, Ala. --An outstanding offensive output was not enough for Florida A&M on Wednesday. The Rattlers put up eight runs, but could not hold the No. 13 Auburn Tigers at bay, and were bested 18-8.
Sophomore Dallas Tease (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Florida A&M (3-7). Junior Raylan Wagner was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 1.2 shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out two.
Offensively, the Rattlers were led by sophomore Will Brown, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a home run and two RBI. Junior Adam Haidermota put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-1 with two RBI. Freshman Jordan Brown also chipped in for Florida A&M, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rattlers were trailing 13-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Sophomore Will Brown put Florida A&M on the board with a one-out solo home run off freshman Trevor Horne.
The Rattlers deficit expanded to 16-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the sixth inning. The Florida A&M offense exploded for seven runs, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Haidermota, which brought the score to 16-8 in favor of the Tigers.
