MONTGOMERY, Ala. --Sophomore Lauryn Peppers was dealing on Saturday, throwing a one-hit shutout to lead the Florida A&M Rattlers past the Southern Lady Jaguars 2-0.
Peppers (1-4) went the distance for Florida A&M (4-9), giving up one hit, walking one and striking out three.
Senior Destiny Cuevas led the way offensively for the Rattlers, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run and an RBI. Senior Nyah Morgan put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a double and a walk. Senior Jane'a Mobley also helped out, going 2-for-3 for Florida A&M.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rattlers took the lead for good in the fourth, scoring for the first time in the inning. Florida A&M got an RBI single from senior Natasha Fox, scoring Morgan from third base.
The Rattlers then tacked on a run in the seventh inning to complete their scoring in the ballgame. That run came across on Cuevas' one-out solo home run off junior Anabella Valadez.
