NEW ORLEANS, La. --Senior Brandon Mitchell and freshman Canaan Clayton combined to throw a shutout on Saturday as the New Orleans Privateers blanked the Florida A&M Rattlers 12-0.
Junior Grant Harrison (0-2) got the ball to start for Florida A&M (1-6) and took the loss. Junior Raylan Wagner was a bright spot for the Rattlers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two innings, giving up one run on one hit, with no walks and two strikeouts.
Senior Jared Weber led the way offensively for the Rattlers, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a double. Senior Griffin Long compiled a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Florida A&M managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Rattlers last got a runner on third in the second, when Long made it 90 feet away from scoring with nobody out.
