TALLAHASSEE, FL --Senior Ky Hampton and junior Jonathon Hanscom combined to toss a shutout on Sunday as the Eastern Illinois Panthers blanked the Florida A&M Rattlers 3-0.
Junior Tre Simmons (0-1) got the ball to start for Florida A&M (0-3) and took the loss. Sophomore Cameron Kelly was a bright spot for the Rattlers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 1.1 shutout innings, allowing no hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
Senior Ty Hanchey led the way offensively for the Rattlers, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with two walks. Junior Sebastian Greico compiled a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Florida A&M managed two chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. The Rattlers last got a runner on third in the fourth, when Greico made it 90 feet away from scoring with one out.
GAME NOTES
» Florida A&M pitchers faced 41 Eastern Illinois hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and 13 fly balls while striking out five.
