TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --The Florida A&M men's basketball team shot 50 percent from deep on the way to a 108-78 victory over the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians at home Saturday.
The Rattlers (2-5) had six players score in double figures, led by Hantz Louis-Jeune, who had 19 points and four assists. Ja'Derryus Eatmon tacked on 15 points from the bench and K'Jei Parker chipped in as well with a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Florida A&M offense was very productive from deep, making nine threes on 18 attempts. Parker was the most prolific shooter for the Rattlers, draining three treys in the contest.
The Florida A&M defense held LeMoyne-Owen shooters to only 37.8 percent from the field, including 29.4 percent from three-point range. The Rattlers also kept Micah Evans to 3-of-12 shooting and eight points in the game.
How It Happened
After falling behind 14-13, Florida A&M went on a 5-0 run with 14:38 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Keith Lamar, to take an 18-14 lead. The Rattlers then added three points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 48-41 advantage. Florida A&M did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 24 of its 48 points close to the basket.
Following intermission, Florida A&M kept widening that lead, expanding it to 88-66 before going on a 12-0 run, finished off by Eatmon's alley-oop from Louis-Juene, to grow the lead to 100-66 with 4:22 to go in the contest. The Magicians narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Rattlers still cruised the rest of the way for the 108-78 win.
