Rattler VB Welcomes Bethune-Cookman for Senior Day

Arrive early to help the team celebrate its six graduates!

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Florida A&M volleyball will play host to Bethune-Cookman Friday (Nov. 10) in its final home match of the season. The team asks Rattler Nation to arrive early to help celebrate its 2023 graduates – Kaitlyn Scroggins, Brooke Hudson, Isis Williams, Camila De La Rosa, Emerald Jacobs and Dominique Turner
 
Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m. 
 
The Last Outing
FAMU is currently riding the wave of a five-match winning streak that is further highlighted by five, straight-set decisions. The Rattlers most recently recorded road victories at Mississippi Valley State (25-6, 25-20, 25-17) and Jackson State (25-20, 25-22, 25-22). 
  • Emerald Jacobs recorded a team-high 18 kills in the Rattlers' 2-0 weekend, while Milana Thornton added 16.
  • Brooke Hudson finished with double-digit digs in each match and set FAMU's new single-season dig record (558) at JSU 
  • Camila De La Rosa's 33-assist performance at Jackson State ties for third most in a three-set match this season (2023 SWAC performance list); she also added six digs, two kills, and two block assists  
Season Highlights … So Far
Brooke Lynn Watts has recorded a team-high 10 double-doubles this season; she amassed her 1,000th career kill in the Rattlers' 3-1 win over Jackson State (Oct. 1) 
Brooke Hudson possesses 1,459 career digs, 1,111 were recorded in a FAMU uniform; she currently ranks fifth all-time in Rattler history in career digs
• Hudson also sits No. 1 and No. 2 in single-season digs. A year ago, she became the school's all-time leader with 553, and at JSU (Nov. 5), she broke her previous record, currently managing 558. 
Camila De La Rosa amassed her 1,000th career assist in the Jackson State victory (Oct. 1)
Gokhan Yilmaz is one away from his 100th career win as a head coach

The 2023 SWAC Championships will be hosted by Prairie View A&M (Nov. 17-19). The "Top 8" seeds will qualify for tournament play.

FAMU currently leads the Southwestern Athletic Conference in the following categories:

The Rattlers also rank second in the conference in assists per set (11.09), digs per set (15.00), team services aces (176), and team total blocks (181.5).
 
Individually, Brooke Hudson guides the SWAC and sits 12th in the nation in digs per set (5.26). The Preseason Libero of the Year also ranks fifth in the NCAA in total digs (558). Brooke Lynn Watts, the Preseason Player of the Year, paces the conference in kills per set (3.50) and points per set (3.96).
 
SWAC Players of the Week
Shortly after making school history, Brooke Hudson added another accomplishment when she was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week (Nov. 7). She leads the current roster with a team-high five SWAC weekly awards.
