BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –– Florida A&M football continues to make history in the 2023 season, with 13 All-SWAC selections, the most by any team since joining the league. The Rattlers improved from the previous two seasons after finishing with nine in '21 and 12 in '22; both seasons tied with Jackson State for the most.

"It's a testament to our coaching staff's recruitment of top-notch student-athletes, our coaches and support staff's commitment to their development on and off the field, and our young men's overall commitment to excellence!"
 
The Rattlers' 13 All-SWAC selections were the most this season by any SWAC school, followed by Alabama State (8), Alcorn State (6), Jackson State (5), Southern (5), Alabama A&M (4), Grambling State (3), Texas Southern (2), Prairie View A&M (2), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2), and Bethune-Cookman (2).
 
All-SWAC First Team
 
Jeremy Moussa | Quarterback
Moussa led the Rattlers' offense to the 27th-best scoring offense in the nation. Moussa finished the season with 2,416 yards, 18 passing touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown in ten games. Moussa finished the season nationally ranked in yards per completion (19th), passing yards per game (20th), passing yards (27th), and passing touchdowns (29th). Moussa led the SWAC in all those categories except yards per completion.
 
Moussa had two 300+ passing yards this game, including a career-high 374 yards at South Florida. Moussa also threw for 325 yards at Southern. Moussa also had a multi-touchdown game seven times, including three touchdown games versus West Florida, Prairie View A&M, and at Texas Southern.
 
Cameron Covin | Offensive Lineman
Covin started all 11 games at right tackle and allowed zero sacks on 377 pass-blocking snaps this season. Covin was responsible for 16 'dominator blocks' and 14 knockdown blocks. Covin also recorded a PFF grade of 74.1 in pass protection, including four games with a grade above 80.0.
 
Isaiah Major | Linebacker
Major led the Dark Cloud Defense with 94 total tackles, 55 solo tackles, and 11.5 tackles for loss. Major also added four quarterback hurries, two sacks, two pass breakups, a fumble recovery, and a pick-six this season. Major earned SWAC Defensive Player of the Week and was honorable mention National Defensive Player of the Week, following his 11 tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks performance at South Florida.
 
Major recorded a season-high 12 tackles and the game-sealing pick-six versus Alabama State. Major also had two or more tackles for loss in three games, including three at South Florida and Mississippi Valley State.
 
Kendall Bohler | Defensive Back
Kendall Bohler was one of two lockdown corners for the nation's number one defense. Bohler finished the season with 31 tackles, 13 pass breakups, and two tackles for loss. Bohler's best game came against Alabama A&M, where he had eight tackles and four pass breakups. Bohler broke up a pass in eight games. Bohler led the conference with 13 breakups. 
 
Bohler is also an Aeneas Williams Award semifinalist.
 
Eric Smith | Defensive Back
Eric Smith was one of the two lockdown corners for the nation's number one defense. Smith finished the season with 32 tackles, eight pass breakups, three interceptions, and one sack. Smith's best game came in the Florida Classic, where he recorded two interceptions and a pass breakup. Smith was consistent in breaking up passes in eight different games. Smith ranked fifth in the SWAC with one pass breakup per game, fourth in total interceptions and breakups, and third with three interceptions.
 
Anthony Dunn Jr. | Defensive Lineman
Anthony Dunn Jr. finished second in the league in sacks with eight and ninth in tackles for loss with 12 as a major contributor to the nation's number-one defense. Dunn Jr. also finished third on the team with 40 tackles. Dun had a multi-sack game twice this season, and his best game came at South Florida, recording 12 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and .5 sack.
 
Cameron Gillis | Kicker
Cameron Gillis led the SWAC in scoring with 71 points. Gillis went 10-12 kicking, with his only two misses being blocked kicks. Gillis also went a perfect 41-41 on extra points.
 
All-SWAC Second Team
 
Marcus Riley | Wide Receiver
Marcus Riley led the Rattlers receiving attack with 438 yards and four touchdowns in ten games. Riley had 50+ receiving yards in four games and a season-high 97 receiving yards in the win at Southern. 
 
Riley also had 213 kick return yards and a kick return touchdown off seven returns (30.4 yards per return, 5th best in nation, 1st in SWAC). 
 
Jah'Marae Sheread | Wide Receiver
Jah'Marae Sheread is one of the best playmakers for the Rattlers, finishing with 713 all-purpose yards (434 receiving, 212 punt return, 67 rushing) and two receiving touchdowns. Sheread's best game of the season came in the opener versus Jackson State, finishing with 195 total yards and a touchdown. Sheread had 70+ receiving yards three times this season, with a season-high 90 receiving yards versus Jackson State.
 
Ashton Grable | Offensive Lineman
Grable started all 11 games (seven at left tackle, four at right guard) and allowed two sacks this season on 370 pass-blocking attempts. Responsible for 22 'dominator blocks,' 11 knockdown blocks, and two cut blocks. Grable recorded a PFF grade of 70.1 in pass protection, including three games with a grade higher than 85.0. Grable was the most versatile and athletic offensive lineman for the Rattlers in 2023, providing physicality in all phases of the game. 
 
Gentle Hunt | Defensive Lineman
Gentle Hunt dominated the interior for the nation's number-one defense, finishing the season with 29 tackles, ten tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two quarterback hurries, and one forced fumble in ten games. Hunt ranked 12 in the league, averaging one tackle for loss. Hunt's most dominating performance came against Alabama State, where he recorded eight tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and one forced fumble. Hunt also recorded five tackles and 1.5 sacks at South Florida. 
 
Johnny Chaney Jr. | Linebacker
Johnny Chaney Jr. was the nation's number-one defense second-leading tackler with 60 tackles. Chaney Jr. added seven tackles for loss, three sacks, one quarterback hurry, and a fumble recovery. Chaney Jr. eclipsed the ten-tackle mark twice this season, at South Florida and Mississippi Valley. Chaney Jr.'s best game came at South Florida, where he recorded ten tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack.
 
Lovie Jenkins | Defensive Back
Lovie Jenkins was a crucial player for the Rattlers' number-one defense, finishing the season with 31 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, one forced fumble, and one punt return touchdown. Jenkins' best performance of the season was at Alabama A&M, where he recorded nine tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, a forced fumble, and returned a punt for a touchdown.
