Volleyball Preview: SWAC Cluster

The Rattlers will meet Alcorn State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and Grambling in Daytona Beach.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Florida A&M volleyball team is scheduled to meet three Southwestern Athletic Conference foes in the upcoming SWAC Cluster hosted by Bethune-Cookman.

Sunday, Oct. 29
vs. Alcorn State | 11 a.m.
vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff | 3 p.m.

Monday, Oct. 30
vs. Grambling State | 11 a.m.

The Last Outing
Florida A&M finds itself in an unfamiliar position after dropping back-to-back SWAC matches – a 3-1 decision to Alabama State and a 3-2 decision to Alabama A&M – for the first time since joining the conference in the 2021 season.

• The Rattlers held a 2-0 lead in the latter match.
• Brooke Lynn Watts contributed a team-high 29 kills during the two-match weekend.
• Camila De La Rosa picked up her second Rattler double-double on a team-high 16 digs and 34 assists versus Alabama A&M; she also totaled 20 assists and eight digs at Alabama State

Season Highlights … So Far
• Brooke Lynn Watts has recorded a team-high eight double-doubles this season; she amassed her 1,000th career kill in the Rattlers' 3-1 win over Jackson State (Oct. 1)
• Brooke Hudson possesses 1,371 career digs, 1,023 were recorded in a FAMU uniform; she currently ranks seventh all-time in Rattler history in career digs
• Hudson also holds two single-season records – a year ago, she became the school's single-season leader in digs (553), and the 470 logged this season is the sixth most
• Camila De La Rosa amassed her 1,000th career assist in the Jackson State victory (Oct. 1)

Individually, Brooke Hudson guides the SWAC and sits 20th in the nation in digs per set (5.05). The Preseason Libero of the Year also ranks sixth in the NCAA in total digs (470).

SWAC Weekly Honors (2023)
Camila De La Rosa was recently named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday (Oct. 24). The award marked her fourth this season and the ninth consecutive week that Florida A&M has received SWAC recognition.
