HOUSTON, Texas -- Florida A&M fought back from a seven-point halftime deficit to take down Texas Southern 31-21 on the road on Saturday night.
The Rattlers improved to 6-1 on the year and 5-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while the Tigers fell to 2-5 and 1-3.
Jeremy Moussa led Florida A&M's passing attack with 180 yards through the air, tossing two touchdowns and one interception. The signal caller also added one touchdown on the ground.
Kelvin Dean led all Rattlers rushers with 83 yards and one touchdown in the contest, picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Terrell Jennings also added 49 yards on the ground, averaging 5.4 yards per carry.
Jamari Gassett reeled in three catches for 77 yards and one score.
Gentle Hunt led the Florida A&M defensive effort, collecting three tackles, 2.0 TFL, and two sacks. Lovie Jenkins added three tackles and one interception and Cherif Seye had four tackles, 2.0 TFL, one sack, and one forced fumble in the win.
Florida A&M put together a big outing on the ground, gaining 255 rushing yards while averaging 5.8 yards per carry and out-rushing Texas Southern by 124 yards. Florida A&M kept building its lead, scoring again with 4:00 remaining in the fourth quarter to go ahead 31-14. Florida A&M didn't score again and Texas Southern tacked on seven more points to finish off the game.
