TALLAHASSEE, FL --The Florida A&M men's basketball team held Alabama A&M to just 16.7 percent from 3-point range in a 2-for-12 shooting performance, but fell 61-56 to the Bulldogs at home Saturday.
The Rattlers (3-16, 1-7) had three players score in double figures, led by Noah Meren, who had 15 points and four assists. Dimingus Stevens added 12 points from the bench and Byron Smith helped out with 10 points and two steals from the bench.
Florida A&M grabbed 36 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Alabama A&M's 33, led by six boards from Jordan Tillmon. The Rattlers also put in work on the offensive glass, turning 13 rebounds into 16 second chance points.
How It Happened
After falling behind 27-19, Florida A&M went on a 5-0 run with 3:17 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 27-24. Alabama A&M answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Rattlers down 32-26 entering halftime.
Alabama A&M kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 55-45 advantage before Florida A&M went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Saiyd Burnside's layup, to shrink the deficit to 55-51 with 3:44 to go in the contest. Alabama A&M responded and outscored the Rattlers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 61-56. Florida A&M shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting five shots from deep to score 15 of its 30 points.
