Rattlers prepare for SWAC matchup against Mississippi Valley

Tallahassee, FL | Florida A&M women's basketball will host Mississippi Valley State in a SWAC matchup tomorrow at 2:30 pm. The Rattlers look to end a seven-game losing streak and pick up their first conference win. 


Who: Florida A&M (2-13, 0-4 SWAC) vs. Mississippi Valley (2-14, 0-5 SWAC)

Last Outing

The Rattlers are coming off a 71-68 home loss to Arkansas Pine-Bluff. FAMU started out the scoring by going on a 7-0 run to take an early lead in the first quarter. UAPB had a 37-34 lead heading into the break. UAPB continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 40-34 advantage before Florida A&M went on an 8-0 run to grab a 42-40 lead in the third. UAPB responded, holding a 57-50 lead entering the fourth quarter. Florida A&M narrowed its deficit to 67-61 before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Dylan Horton's three, to shrink the deficit to 67-66 with 1:20 to go in the contest. UAPB responded and outscored the Rattlers the rest of the way.


Scouting Mississippi Valley  (vs.Bethune-Cookman 1/14)

  • Forward Zaria Harleaux continues to produce as the leading scorer for the Devilettes. Harleaux recorded 15 points, eight rebounds, one assist, and one block. 
  • Guard Krisen Hunt contributed to the scoreboard for MVSU, scoring ten points. 
  • Zaria Harleaux recorded 15 points, eight rebounds, one assist, and one block. 
  • Hunt recorded ten points and one steal. 
  • Guard Kerrigan Johnson recorded eight points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal. 
  • Forward Milia Gibson registered eight points, five rebounds, and one assist.

  • Dylan Horton Ranks top five in the SWAC in these categories: Points per game (16.9) and free throw percentage (78.6).
  • Skylar Baltezegar ranks fifth in the SWAC in blocks per game with 1.2. 
  •  Ahriahna Grizzle ranks third in the SWAC in assists per game (3.2). She ranks second in the SWAC in steals per game (2.3).
  • Skylar Baltezegar is the Rattlers leading rebounder with 72 total averaging 4.8 per game.
