Rattlers Claim Three Wins, 11 ‘Top 3’ Finishes at HBCU Showcase

NEW YORK | Expectations are high for Florida A&M track and field, and if results from its season-opening meet are any evidence, the program will excel. The HBCU Showcase (Jan. 14) marked the Rattlers' first under their newly hired Director of Track and Field / Cross Country Garfield Ellenwood II; they captured three event wins alongside 11 'Top 3' finishes. Collectively, FAMU's women's team placed third overall in the 16-team field behind North Carolina A&T and Norfolk State, while the men finished fourth.

Lauryn Hall clocked Florida A&M's first win of the 2023 indoor season with a time of 7.63 in the 60-meter race before performances by Jordyn Ash and Dajon Clark swept the long jump events. The former set the mark to beat at 5.67 meters (18' 7.25"), while the latter leapt a personal-best 7.52 meters (24' 8.25").

It was all around a career day for Clark, who also placed second in the men's 60-meter final with a PR of 6.85.

The Rattlers continue their indoor schedule in the two-day Alachua County Collegiate Invitational (Jan. 26-27) in Gainesville, Fla.
