BATON ROUGE, La. — The 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships get underway Sunday at Southern University, with competition scheduled across three days through Tuesday, May 12.
The Florida A&M women's program enters the meet looking to defend its conference title, bringing championship-caliber expectations into a field that figures to be among the most competitive in recent SWAC history.
Sunday's action opens with the first day of multi-events, as decathletes begin at 10:30 a.m. EST with the 100 meters, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400 meters, while heptathletes follow at 11 a.m. EST with the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200 meters. Field event finals begin in the afternoon with the hammer throw and javelin, before the track comes alive in the evening session with preliminary rounds in the 200 meters, 400-meter hurdles, 1,500 meters and finals in the 10,000 meters for both men and women.
Monday's schedule features the conclusion of multi-event competition along with shot put and pole vault finals on the women's side. The evening session brings preliminary rounds in the 100 and 400-meter dashes, the 100 and 110-meter hurdles and the 800-meter dash, along with finals in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for both genders.
Championship finals headline the closing day Tuesday. The afternoon opens with discus, pole vault, triple jump and high jump finals before the track schedule shifts into championship mode beginning at 6 p.m. EST with the 4x100-meter relays. The evening session features finals in the 1,500 meters, 100 and 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 800-meter run, 400-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash and the 5,000-meter run before the meet concludes with the 4x400-meter relays at 8:55 p.m. EST for women and 9 p.m. EST for men.
Awards will be presented immediately following each event final. Hammer and discus competition for both men and women will be conducted outside the main competition oval.
