BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | LJ Bryant's three-run home run in the 11th inning helped secure Florida A&M Baseball's 11-7 victory over Southern in the SWAC semi-final at Regions Field. Later this evening, the Rattlers and Jaguars will play again with a championship game berth on the line.
The Rattlers fell behind 3-0 in the first inning but got on the board in the fourth on an RBI double by Robert Robinson. Adam Haidermota followed up with an RBI single to make it a 3-2 game. At the top of the fifth, the Rattlers tied the game 3-3 on a walk with bases loaded. The Rattlers then took the lead on an RBI single by Ty Hanchey to make it a 4-3 game. Southern tied the game 4-4 at the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run. Southern took the lead at the bottom of the seventh to go up 4-6. The Rattlers stayed resilient, making it a 5-6 game reaching home plate on a fielder's choice. At the top of the ninth, LJ Bryant took a 7-6 lead on an RBI single. Southern tied the game 7-7 at the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings.
