Rattlers Fall to Southern 58-51 After Stat Correction

BATON ROUGE, La. | Florida A&M men's basketball traveled to Baton Rouge for their regular-season road finale versus Southern and lost 58-51 after two points were added to the Rattlers' final score after the game's conclusion.

The Rattlers got off to a hot start taking an 18-11 lead in the first half, but a 20-6 run by the Jaguars sent the Rattlers down 31-24 at the half. Southern opened the second half on an 11-7 run to take an 11-point lead. The Rattlers responded with their own 10-0 run to make it what should have been a one-point game, but only eight points were added to the score as there was a mistake from the Southern book, so the Rattlers were down three. Southern responded with their own 10-0 run to take a 13-point lead. Over the next three minutes, the Rattlers went on another run, outscoring the Jaguars 10-2 to make it a five-point game, though it should have been three due to the missed points. In the next possession, the Jaguars were fouled on an offensive rebound by MJ Randolph, and that would be his fifth foul on the night. The Jaguars made both free throws to make the game a 55-49 game. The Jaguars would make three more free throws after a couple of turnovers and missed shots from the Rattlers to win 58-49, which would be changed to 58-51 after the game once the correction to the score was applied.
